What the heck are you doing?

Our story starts at a pizzeria in Stockholm in 2023.

We were about halfway through our Scandanavian vacation when we started talking about how much we’d like to live there for a couple of months. The conversation quickly evolved into well what if we split a year into 4 different places each for 3 months. Sounds great in a magical world where that would just be a normal thing to do - right?!

After spending a couple of years traveling as much as we could, we always came back to the idea of taking a year off to explore and see what all we could do. Every new city we arrived in we would talk through what our lives would look like there: what neighborhoods we would explore, what restaurants we’d frequent, and what our go to grocery store would be (a favorite stop for us in any new location). Eventually our conversations became more serious as we realized how much of a life-changing experience it would be.

We talked through what it would mean to put our careers on pause, what all we wanted to accomplish to make it worth the risk, where we would want to go, and for how long.

Eventually the time came where we realized if we were going to do it: we needed to commit to when it would all happen and we had to figure out how to bring Kuz too.

What a perfect distraction from the stress of wedding planning! We spent more time looking into what life would be like traveling out of backpacks … and how to bring a litter box, Kuz’s carrier, lots of his favorite toys and treats, and our pet camera so we could keep an eye on him when we weren’t home.

After lots of planning, packing, chaotic calls with our fantastic vet as we figured out his paperwork to go abroad, we finally started our adventure on June 9th! Now the plan is to spend most of the next 9 months exploring, learning, experiencing and bringing Kuzco along whenever we can!
